The professional training and knowledge assessment phase organized under the UNDP “Fruitful Garden” Project has been successfully completed in Syunik Region. A total of 170 participants from the communities of Meghri, Sisian and Kapan took part in the examination, including 93 women and 77 men.
The training was attended by 43 participants in Meghri (12 women and 31 men), 56 in Brnakot (32 women and 24 men), 36 in Sisian (24 women and 12 men), and 35 in Kapan (25 women and 10 men).
During the three-day training sessions, participants gained practical knowledge on traditional and intensive horticulture, orchard planning, crop and variety selection, soil preparation, irrigation and fertilization systems, pruning techniques, plant protection, as well as measures to mitigate and manage the impacts of adverse weather conditions. Upon completion of the training, all participants received certificates of participation and a copy of the “Fundamentals of Horticulture: A Practical Guide” to support the application of their newly acquired knowledge.
The “Fruitful Garden” Project aims to strengthen the skills and capacities of people engaged in horticulture. It seeks to promote sustainable livelihoods, improve food security, and enhance the self-reliance of rural communities by increasing the horticultural knowledge and practical skills of residents in Syunik Region.
