The Pomegranate Project is an initiative designed to boost the agricultural potential of rural Armenia by supporting the production of value-added pomegranate products such as juices, wines, and syrups.
Recognizing Armenia’s rich tradition of pomegranate cultivation, the project seeks to move beyond fresh fruit sales and unlock new economic opportunities through processing. Despite the country’s abundance of high-quality pomegranates, much of the fruit is consumed fresh, leaving its full market potential largely untapped. By encouraging the creation of processed goods—including beverages, cosmetics, and snacks—the project aims to increase the value of this local resource, strengthen agricultural resilience, and generate income for rural communities.
To support this goal, beneficiaries receive specialized equipment for juice and wine production, including stainless steel storage tanks, a centrifugal destemmer, hydraulic press, self-priming pump, plate filter, manual corking tool, and essential lab tools such as refractometers and measuring jugs. Support also includes construction assistance to improve production facilities, quality control measures, and access to professional consultancy and training.
Through this comprehensive approach, The Pomegranate Project promotes local entrepreneurship, enhances rural processing capacity, and contributes to the long-term sustainability of agriculture in the region.
