The goal of the “Greenhouse” initiative is to support socially vulnerable groups in Armenia, including displaced persons, who have limited access to land and other resources, by expanding their opportunities to secure a sustainable source of income through the establishment of greenhouse farms.
In 2025, the UNDP “Sustainable Communities” programme announced the launch of a new initiative — “Nexus: Greenhouse,” successfully implemented in Goris and Kapan. The “Nexus” model is a new pilot approach developed by the UNDP “Sustainable Communities” programme to promote collaboration and resource-sharing between rural settlements and urban centers. Through this pilot initiative, the nexus approach aims to support motivated individuals in establishing their own greenhouse businesses. The support includes the provision of a new modern greenhouse, practical agricultural and business training, expert consultations, and the creation of a collaborative environment.
