As part of UNDP’s “Sustainable Communities” programme, the “Honey-Money” initiative has provided beneficiaries in the Ararat region with beehives and essential beekeeping equipment.
In Ararat region, 62 beneficiaries received support, including a total of 155 beehives and 62 sets of tools. These sets include a smoker, knife, scraper, beekeeping gloves, and a protective jacket with a veil, while 16 beneficiaries also received an electric knife.
Participants also took part in intensive three-day training sessions, where they learned the fundamentals of modern beekeeping. At the end of the training, an assessment was conducted, and selected participants were provided with beehives and professional toolkits to help them start or expand their beekeeping activities.
The programme aims to support refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh who have settled in the Kotayk, Ararat, and Armavir regions. It is implemented with financial support from the Government of France within the framework of decentralized cooperation. In total, 194 people participated in the initiative, including 53 women. The programme contributes to income generation and the development of sustainable livelihoods for beneficiaries.
