Beneficiaries who attended the trainings held in Syunik Region within the framework of UNDP’s “Sustainable Communities” programme’s “Fruitful Garden” initiative received the horticultural supplies envisaged by the project. A total of 132 residents participated in the trainings conducted in the communities of Sisian, Goris, Kapan, and Meghri (28 residents from Sisian, 22 from Goris, 50 from Kapan, and 32 from Meghri).
During the first phase of the trainings, participants gained knowledge about all stages of the fruit production cycle, while the practical phase introduced them to the nuances of tree cultivation in one of the community orchards. At the conclusion of the training, all 132 participants passed an examination. Those who demonstrated the best results received horticultural tools and equipment, including sprayers and chainsaw kits.
UNDP’s “Sustainable Communities” programme’s “Fruitful Garden” initiative is aimed at developing the skills and capacities of residents engaged in horticulture. The project seeks to empower communities by creating sustainable livelihoods, improving food security, and promoting the self-sufficiency of rural populations by enhancing the horticultural skills, capacities, and knowledge of residents in Armenia’s Syunik Region.
The “Fruitful Garden” project was implemented by UNDP “Sustainable Communities” programme with financial support from the Russian Federation.
