25 New Apartments: Vanadzor to Have a New Social Housing Building

Social Housing

With funding from UNDP and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, the building No. 53 on Zeytun Street in Vanadzor is being renovated, reorganized, and transformed into 25 separate apartments.

Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan, UNDP Socio-Economic Development Portfolio Manager Anna Gyurjyan, UNDP “Sustainable Communities” Programme Manager Arman Valesyan, and other partners visited the social housing building under renovation in Vanadzor. The Minister toured the area and got acquainted with the progress of the renovation works of social apartments in Vanadzor. The former boarding school building has not been in use for a long time and is planned to be redesigned and converted into a social housing facility.

The old building will be reorganized into 25 new apartments, each with a separate entrance, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. There will also be a separate guard room. The building entrances will be redesigned and made accessible for persons with disabilities. The old water supply and sewerage systems will be replaced, new ventilation systems will be built, and electric heating systems will be installed. Solar photovoltaic panels will also be placed on the roof to ensure a source of green energy.

Construction works have already started, and the renovation of all 25 apartments is planned to be completed by December 2026.
