The UNDP “Sustainable Communities” programme’s “Fruitful Garden” initiative aims to develop the skills and capacities of residents engaged in horticulture. The programme seeks to empower communities by creating sustainable livelihoods, improving food security, and promoting self-sufficiency among the rural population through the enhancement of horticultural skills, capacities, and knowledge of residents in Armenia’s Syunik region.
A new training session under the “Fruitful Garden” initiative was held in the Sisian community of Syunik region. The two-day training took place in Sisian on June 5–6, with participants from the settlements of Brnakot, Tolors, Torunik, Getatagh, Lor, and Ashotavan. A total of 30 individuals, who had submitted applications, took part in the session.
The first training, which included both theoretical and practical components, covered all stages of the fruit production cycle. The practical part was conducted in one of the orchards in Sisian.
Participants also received the manual “Fundamentals of Horticulture: A Practical Guide.”
