Under the UNDP Sustainable Communities programme, solar water heaters were installed in the settlements of Tsiatsan, Arshaluys, Dasht, Hovtamej, Haytagh, Aygeshat, Aragats, Mrgastan, Geghakert, and Shahumyan within the Khoy enlarged community. These new 360-liter solar water heaters will significantly improve the water systems in schools and kindergartens, providing 24-hour access to hot water.
Access to hot water is essential for maintaining high hygiene standards, which directly impact the well-being and learning outcomes of children.
“Throughout the year, we have successfully collaborated with the UNDP Sustainable Communities programee on initiatives aimed at improving community infrastructure and promoting sustainable energy. This project, in particular, has resolved the issue of hot water availability in 10 schools and kindergartens,” stated Argishti Mekhakyan, Head of the Khoy Community.
The Solar 24 – 100 Water Heaters initiative focuses on enhancing the living and working conditions of public buildings, including administrative offices, schools, kindergartens, community centers, cultural hubs, and libraries. By providing constant access to hot water through solar energy, the project contributes to sustainable development and improved public services.
This initiative is implemented as part of the UNDP SOLAR 24 – 100 Water Heaters project.
