Beekeeping Development in Armavir: New Hives and Equipment for Beneficiaries

Honey-Money

Within the framework of UNDP’s “Sustainable Communities” programme, the “Honey-Money” initiative has provided beneficiaries in Armavir Province with beekeeping hives and essential equipment to support the development of apiculture.

Participants took part in a three-day intensive training course, where they were introduced to the key principles of modern beekeeping. Upon completion of the training, an assessment was conducted, and selected participants received beehives and professional toolkits to support the establishment or expansion of their beekeeping activities.

In Armavir Province, 49 beneficiaries received support, including a total of 120 beehives and 49 sets of beekeeping tools. The toolkits include a bee smoker, knife, scraper, beekeeping gloves, and a protective jacket with a hood. In addition, 18 beneficiaries were provided with electric knives to further improve efficiency in honey processing.

The programme aims to support refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh who have settled in Kotayk, Ararat, and Armavir provinces. It is implemented with the financial support of the Government of France within the framework of decentralized cooperation. Overall, the programme engaged 194 participants, of whom 53 were women.
