The UNDP Sustainable Communities programme is implementing a new “NEXUS Masis: Greenhouse” project, which aims to establish greenhouse farms using a cluster-based approach in Masis community, Ararat region. The project is implemented by UNDP with financial support from the Government of Japan within the framework of “The Project for Promoting Agricultural Development for Displaced Karabakh Armenians and Affected Host Communities in Armenia”.

As part of the project, applicants will participate in professional training courses, at the end of which they will take an examination. Beneficiaries will be selected based on the scores obtained and provided with a modern greenhouse covering an area of 300 m² to establish a business that generates sustainable income. Participants will receive ongoing professional and advisory support to organise their activities effectively and become competitive in the market.

Refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh residing in Masis community, Ararat region, and residents of Masis community may apply for the project.

The support provided by the project will include:

• A 300 m² tunnel greenhouse,

• Free training on greenhouse farming and vegetable cultivation,

• Free business and entrepreneurship training, including business planning, marketing, finance and pitching business ideas,

• Free consultations on greenhouse installation,

• Seedlings and seeds for each beneficiary to start production,

• Ongoing consultations and on-site professional support for six months,

• A professional handbook on greenhouse farming,

• Participation in a greenhouse cluster, with opportunities for joint activities and access to markets.
