The UNDP Sustainable Communities programme, within the framework of the “Fertile Soil” initiative, is announcing a new professional training for residents of Masis community in Ararat region. The training will provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills in modern production technologies for cucumbers, pickling cucumbers and other cucurbit crops. The initiative is implemented by UNDP with the financial support of the Government of Japan, within the framework of The Project for Promoting Agricultural Development for Displaced Karabakh Armenians and Affected Host Communities in Armenia.
The training topic is “Modern Production Technologies for Cucumbers, Pickling Cucumbers and Other Cucurbit Crops”. It aims to introduce effective approaches to the production of cucumbers and other cucurbit crops. The training will last 4 hours.
The following topics will be covered during the training:
- Selection of modern varieties and hybrids
- Production of high-quality seedlings
- Plant training and care
- Irrigation and fertigation management
- Prevention of diseases and pests
- Methods for increasing yields and product quality
- Harvesting and post-harvest management
Participants will also receive support, including a package of hybrid cucumber and pickling cucumber seeds.
