The UNDP Sustainable Communities programme, within the framework of the “Fertile Soil” initiative, is announcing a new professional training for residents of Masis community in Ararat region. The training will provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills for effectively managing plant pests and diseases. The initiative is implemented by UNDP with the financial support of the Government of Japan, within the framework of the “Promoting Agricultural Development for Displaced Karabakh Armenians and Affected Host Communities in Armenia” project.
The training topic is “Integrated Management of Plant Pests and Diseases”. It aims to introduce modern and safe methods for preventing and managing pests and diseases. The training will last 4 hours.
The following topics will be covered during the training:
- The most common pests and diseases in Ararat region
- Early diagnosis and monitoring methods
- Principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Biological pest control methods
- Proper and safe use of plant protection products
- Prevention of pesticide resistance
- Preventive agrotechnical measures
Participants will also receive support, including yellow sticky traps and a trial package of biological plant protection products.
