Nexus Goris: The Greenhouse Project Comes to Syunik

The UNDP “Sustainable Communities” Programme is pleased to announce the launch of the new “Nexus Goris” initiative. The “Nexus” model is a new pilot approach developed by the Programme to promote collaboration and resource-sharing between rural areas and urban centers.

The “Greenhouse” initiative will be implemented in the Verishen and Akner settlements of the Goris community in Syunik region. This pilot project, based on the Nexus approach, aims to support motivated individuals in establishing their own greenhouse businesses. The support includes the provision of a modern greenhouse, hands-on agricultural and business training, expert consultations, and the creation of a collaborative environment.

The support provided by the programme will include:

  • A tunnel-type greenhouse with a surface area of 150 m²

  • Free training on greenhouse agriculture and vegetable cultivation

  • Free training on business and entrepreneurship, including business planning, marketing, finance, and pitching

  • Free consultation on greenhouse installation

  • 450 seedlings and 8 packs of seeds per beneficiary to start production

  • Ongoing consultation and on-site professional support for six months

  • A 50-page manual on greenhouse agriculture

  • Participation in the greenhouse cluster, enabling joint activities and access to markets

The beneficiary’s contribution will include:

  • A co-financing amount of 500,000 AMD to support installation

This amount is refundable if the beneficiary installs the greenhouse independently within the agreed timeline.

Eligibility criteria:

Permanent residents of Verishen or Akner aged 18 and above, who:

  • Own at least 200 m² of flat adjacent land with continuous access to water and electricity

  • Are ready to co-finance or self-install the greenhouse

  • Are capable of organizing their own greenhouse business

  • Are willing to attend all trainings and register as an Individual Entrepreneur (IE) or LLC

  • Are open to collaboration within the greenhouse cluster

Key stages of the programme:

  • Launch in July 2025

  • Trainings and greenhouse installations in summer–early autumn 2025

  • Distribution of seedlings and seeds in early autumn 2025

  • Advisory support until December 2025

The programme aims to train up to 30 participants and provide 20 greenhouses (each 150 m²) to selected beneficiaries from Verishen and Akner.
